The author discusses (unknown in Poland) Pehr Frigel’s oratorio "Försonaren på Oljoberget", which should be translated as "The Redeemer on the Mount of Olives” and presents a compendium of knowledge about this composition. An important element of this article is the composer's biography and description of his creative achievements. The oratorio is analysed in terms of music elements and vocal technique. The article includes an authorial translation of the lyrics. The oratorio, which consisting of an introduction and three parts, is composed for the following cast: solo voices: two sopranos, alt, tenor, bass; mixed choir and symphony orchestra. The oratorio consists of solo arias, recitatives, duo, ensemble, choirs, chorals and overture. The composition has high artistic values and is an attractive material for performers: soloists, choir and orchestra.
